8th Annual Cow Run — Salem

September 26th 9am — Cow Run 10 Miles: Cowtown to Salem! Calf Run 5K: Salem to Mannington & back!

This race retraces the original 10 miles of the 1778 cow run or “Great Cow Chase” of cattle “foraged” from Salem County by American soldiers led by Anthony “Mad Anthony” Wayne. Wayne gathered about 150 Salem County cows in Salem City & headed toward Valley Forge and the starving soldiers on February 23 of that year. The cows traveled up Old Kings Highway, which is most of the run.

Register by Thursday, September 23rd here: https://raceroster.com/events/2021/38193/8th-annual-cow-run-10-miler-and-the-4th-calf-5k or you may register at the event.

Soldiers Weekend — Fort Mott State Park, Pennsville

September 25th 10am–26th 1pm — Historic Soldiers Weekend is a historical encampment, featuring re-enactors and their equipment from every American conflict, spanning the French & Indian War to the Vietnam War. In some instances, both sides of the conflicts will be present, such as the Revolutionary War loyalists and “redcoats”, Civil War confederate units, and WWII German infantry units. The re-enactment units will be camping out for the weekend at Historic Fort Mott, living as their ancestors did.

Journey back in time to give yourself and your children, students and guests a chance to see, hear and touch real history through the life of a typical soldier during the French & Indian War, Civil, World Wars and beyond.

Woodstown Fall Festival — Downtown Woodstown

September 25th 10am-4pm — Each year in September, Woodstown’s historic downtown shopping district comes alive; scarecrows by the dozens keep watch along the streets; historic houses are decorated in their fall best; and vendors, crafters and local shops line their food and wares along Main Street eager to greet the thousands of tourists and towns people who come out to celebrate fall during Woodstown’s Annual Fall Festival.
The festival officially opens at 10AM on the last Saturday in September as the crisp fall air carries whiffs of kettle corn and other delicious foods prepared by vendors and local restaurants. You can also enjoy locally made wine and beer provided in the tent on North Main Street.
The crafters proudly display their wares as music plays from the various stages set around the town. And new to the fall festival this year, a car show on North Main Street!
